Jordan was a truly amazing place, extraordinarily nice and welcoming people, delicious food, gorgeous desert scenery and the most terrific guide, friend, curator imaginable. We ran the gamut of the country’s key sites: Amman, Jarash and its Roman city (far better preserved and interesting than most), Ajlun and its ancient fortress nestled in a beautiful green valley, Madaba with its mosaics, the incredible Dana biosphere reserve, and iconic Petra. At every place Saber brought the area’s history, social and political context to life, sharing his Jordan, a native who clearly loves his land and her people, is honest about her quirks and brings his knowledge coupled with a fabulous sense of humor and wonder.
